Pmp Auto Specialties Freight FAQ


Q: My parts are being shipped via freight… How does this work?


A: This means your part is too big or heavy for traditional UPS/FEDEX deliveries so we use LTL (Less than truckload) Freight carriers to ship our big or heavy stuff.


Q: What does this cost?


A: Rates vary greatly based on location and services needed


Q: What Freight companies do you use?


A: We primarily use R&L, YRC, ABF, and WARD


Q: How long does this take?


A: Freight companies operate independently of PMP, when we finish palletizing your item, we make a BOL (bill of lading) once we have done that the freight company is notified that your pallet is ready for pick up. At that point the freight company schedules it in for pick up. This might be the same day, this might be the next day… It might be 3 days from when we made our BOL. We have absolutely no control over this process, and cannot select a company that does give us control over this process since it does not exist for LTL Freight


Q: Ok, but how long *should* it take


A: 3-10 business days


Q: Do you offer expedited service


A: No


Q: Do you offer guaranteed service


A: No


Q: Can this be shipped to my house?


A: Yes, residential delivery with Liftgate service is available. It is the most expensive freight option out there.


Q: How will my parts come?


A: On a pallet, bolted or strapped down, secured, with black plastic wrap around it


Q: What do I do if my item looks damaged, or I think it's damaged?


A: Refuse it.


Q: My item is taking forever to get to me, what should I do?


A: Email me at [email protected] or Text me at 610-577-5594 and alert me to the issue. I can escalate the issue up to our account manager and attempt to fix the issue.


Q: If we don't want to use freight, what can we do?


A: you are more than welcome to pick it up, or have it picked up. Anything picked up is subject to PA sales tax


Q: Freight seems like it sucks?


A: It does, it's so bad that we have had to put two warnings on your invoice, and then make this FAQ so we can help everyone understand that timing delays due to freight are not us, and we cannot change it, even if we wanted to. We are just trying to be as transparent as possible about this process, as it's stressful for us to explain this as frequently as we have had too.


Q: Anything else we should know?


A: Freight is unpredictable, and can be very fast. Or very slow. Overall once the freight is picked up, it can be tracked VIA a pro number that the freight carrier gives us. We can also give this to you if you want, just message us for it.
